The sentencing data available on this website comes from the Tasmanian Magistrates Court records.

The data includes the last 10 complete calendar years and the current year, based on the finalisation date of charges.

Only criminal cases are included (not civil cases).

The data only includes cases where the defendant was found guilty.

The data does not include:

• charges (i.e. offences) were not finalised as of the refresh date
• charges where the defendant was deceased, acquitted or charges were withdrawn,discontinued or subsumed and dismissed
• Youth Justice cases
• cases or charges in the Supreme Court
• appeal and community conference cases
• legacy sentencing orders, e.g., Warrant – Suspended Sentence
